Debbane pour l'Agriculture was pleased to welcome and host the “American Genetics” team in Algeria. During his visit, General Manager, Mr. PAOLO ZOULIAMIS, seized the opportunity to showcase a presentation on the cultivation of Maize to the Debbane Agri Commercial team formed of Mr. Mohamed BENDJAFER West area Regional Director, Mr. Samir GACEM South East area Regional Director, Mr. Hamza KHALADI East area Regional Director, and the technical team composed of Mr. Mustapha TEBIB technical director, Mr. Ahmed BESSAS Head of pesticide products department, and Mr. Salah YASSA Head of seed products department. In addition, were present at this event as attendees: Mr. John FAWAZ, CEO of Debbane Agri, Mr. Charbel BASSIL, Managing Director of the company in Algeria, Engineer Roger WARD, Central Product Manager (seeds), and Engineer Ziad GHANEM, Central Product Manager (Pesticides and Fertilizers).
The presentation conducted by Mr. Paolo ZOULIAMIS tackled different themes, relating to the different phases and stages of maize cultivation, namely:
- Soil preparation
- Main pests and diseases
- Suitable stage for harvesting
- Description of new varieties
Debbane for Modern Agriculture conducted a crucial field observation on September 20th in Tikrit. This event centered on evaluating snap bean varieties from Proseed and CalOro. Snap beans, esteemed for their nutritional value and versatility, hold immense agricultural significance. The objective was to assess these varieties' performance in Tikrit's local conditions, considering factors like growth rate, disease resistance, and yield potential. This invaluable data will aid farmers in making informed decisions about cultivation. Debbane for Modern Agriculture hosted a workshop where collaborative efforts were presented to its engineers, investors, and farmers in Baghdad and Erbil. The lecture, titled "Monitoring Agricultural Crops Using Satellites," introduced groundbreaking advancements in modern farming practices. This event successfully provided valuable insights and innovations that have the potential to reshape the agricultural landscape.
On September 13th, an informative field day was held in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, featuring Seminis' tomato variety, 8320 MM. The event saw the active participation of local tomato growers, Debbane's agents for modern agriculture in the region, and a dedicated Debbane team. Among the attendees were the seed director, district director, and engineers responsible for the northern region. This event marked an important milestone in advancing agricultural practices and improving the performance of the 8320 MM tomato variety. It provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and showcased Debbane's commitment to supporting agriculture in the Sulaymaniyah region.
